Message 102 - Posted: 22 Feb 2018, 22:10:08 UTC

We have added a new version of the application (v2.0.0 -> in BOINC 20.00).

We have introduced quite large changes in the application.

Unfortunately, it was not possible to eliminate the difference in runtime (Linux vs. Windows) - on the Windows 7 platform the runtime is ~ 3000 seconds. On Linux 32-bit it is ~ 1400-1500 seconds. On Linux 64-bit can be even faster.

The test series has been generated (10k).

We apologize for the waiting time.

We encourage you to download WU!

Thanks all!

The 20.01 WU are taking about double what the 20.00 version required. Can you please make a 64 bit version like the 20.00 app?

Clarification ... the LINUX 20.01 app takes much longer than the 20.00 app.

Linux 20.01 is linux 32bits version, and 20.00 is linux 64 bits.
On windows 32bits apps 20.00 takes 25-30 minutes with 8 WU at the saem time on my i7-4790 <- we working on windows 64 app version.

Yes, it is a matter of the number of bits.
64-bit systems are faster (64-bit registers etc.).
The program uses large numbers.

Is this some Microsoft quirkiness?

It' a Linux enviroment under Windows 10 64-bit, not using "Oracle Virtual Box".

I'm not sure that such an "environment" would be a good idea.
It is rather a "pseudo-Linux environment".
But I have not got in touch with this technology.

I do not have how to test the app, etc.

This might help...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Subsystem_for_Linux

... it says...

This subsystem cannot run all Linux software, such as 32-bit binaries

So I configured 64 bits only in the project settings...

And the 64-bit should work with certainty?

Such combinations are strongly not recommended.

The Windows application should be run on Windows.
The Linux application should be run on Linux.

Soon an application for Windows 64-bit should be available.
In theory this application should have higher performance (versus Windows 32-bit).
